To the Editor:
On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I am writing to extend congratulations to Charles B. “Brad” Dixon and Billy Joe Nelson Jr. on their appointments to the Superior Court of the Atlantic Judicial Circuit.
Judge Dixon and Judge Nelson each bring extensive legal experience and a demonstrated commitment to public service to the Superior Court bench. Their appointments strengthen a circuit that serves thousands of citizens across coastal Georgia and plays an important role in the fair administration of justice.
Judge Dixon has built a distinguished legal career in private practice representing clients in a wide range of civil and criminal matters. Before entering private practice, he served eight years on active duty in the U.S. Army JAG Corps, where he served as a prosecutor, defense attorney and instructor responsible for training military prosecutors around the world.
Judge Nelson has devoted much of his legal career to serving the Atlantic Judicial Circuit. He served as an assistant district attorney before being elected district attorney in 2022 and previously served as solicitor-general for the State Court of Long County. His longstanding service reflects a deep commitment to the communities of southeast Georgia.
We congratulate Judges Dixon and Nelson on their appointments and wish them continued success as they serve the citizens of the Atlantic Judicial Circuit and Georgia's justice system.
Sincerely,
William C. “Bill” Gentry
President, State Bar of Georgia
