To the Editor:

On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I am writing to extend congratulations to Catherine A. Sumner on her appointment as district attorney of the Ogeechee Judicial Circuit.

Sumner has dedicated her legal career to serving the people of southeast Georgia. She currently serves as solicitor-general of Bulloch County and previously served as an assistant district attorney in the Ogeechee Judicial Circuit, where she prosecuted felony cases involving numerous law enforcement agencies throughout the circuit.

In addition to her prosecutorial experience, Sumner has demonstrated a strong commitment to her community through service on the Bulloch Family Violence Task Force, the Board of Directors for Community Assistance in Fire Emergencies and as a past president of the Bulloch County Bar Association.

A graduate of Georgia Southern University and the University of Georgia School of Law, Sumner has distinguished herself through her professionalism, leadership and dedication to public service.

We congratulate Sumner on her appointment and wish her continued success as she serves the citizens of the Ogeechee Judicial Circuit.

Sincerely,

William C. “Bill” Gentry
President, State Bar of Georgia
