Congratulations to Judge Samuel Ozburn on Mercer Law Alumni Award

To the Editor:
On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I would like to offer congratulations to retired Alcovy Judicial Circuit Superior Court Judge Samuel D. Ozburn for receiving the 2025 Outstanding Alumnus Award from Mercer University Walter F. George School of Law.
Judge Ozburn is well deserving of this prestigious honor in recognition of his 25 years of full-time judicial service and his continued service in senior judge status. In addition to presiding over cases in the Superior Courts of Newton and Walton counties, Judge Ozburn created a mental health court, a program that allows school-age children to visit and learn about the Alcovy Circuit courts and a literacy program that helps criminal defendants earn their GED. He also served for 20 years as chair of the Council of Superior Court Judges’ Court Security Committee.
As a Mercer Law product myself, I was honored to have been present when Judge Ozburn received this award and, on behalf of the Georgia Bar’s 55,000-plus members, add our applause.
