The Champion, Decatur
To the Editor:
On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I would like to express condolences to the family, colleagues and many friends of longtime Atlanta attorney Edward D. “Ed” Buckley III of Decatur on his untimely passing at the age of 68.
A member of the Georgia Bar since 1983, Mr. Buckley practiced law in Atlanta for more than 40 years, first with his father’s firm of Greene, Buckley, De Rieux & Jones, and since 2002 with the firm he founded and now known as Buckley Bala Wilson Mew. His impactful, groundbreaking work in employment law, with expertise in sexual harassment and race, age and religious discrimination matters earned him the Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Employment Lawyers Association in 2015. Outside his professional life, he founded a nonprofit, Water Life Hope, with a mission to provide clean and safe water for villages and communities in Haiti and Jamaica.
Ed Buckley’s distinguished career of service is an inspiration to all members of the State Bar of Georgia. We are appreciative of his many contributions to the legal profession. He will be missed and fondly remembered.
Sincerely,
Ivy N. Cadle
President, State Bar of Georgia
