To the Editor:

On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I would like to express congratulations to Mountain Judicial Circuit Juvenile Court Judge B. Nichole Carswell and Rabun County Probate Judge Carlton H. “Hobie” Jones III on their appointments by Gov. Brian Kemp to serve as Superior Court judges for the Mountain Circuit, covering Habersham, Rabun and Stephens counties.

Judge Carswell will be well served by her 25 years of experience in the legal profession and justice system, including the past eight years as the circuit’s first full-time Juvenile Court judge. She previously was in private law practice as a partner with McClure, Ramsay, Dickerson & Escoe LLP in Toccoa. She has also served as presiding judge for the Rabun County Felony Drug Court and as an adjunct professor at Truett McConnell University.

Judge Jones brings 39 years of legal and judicial experience to his new position, including the past four years as Probate Court judge in Rabun County. He started his career as an associate attorney with Glover & Davis, P.A., in Newnan and Peachtree City and returned to his native Rabun County in 2015. He has also served as Municipal Court judge, State Court judge and Magistrate Court judge and is a trained mediator.

By accepting these appointments, Judge Carswell and Judge Jones demonstrate their continued commitment to serving the public and the justice system. We wish them well in their new capacity of judicial leadership.

Sincerely,

Ivy N. Cadle
President, State Bar of Georgia
