To the Editor:

On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I would like to express condolences to the family, colleagues and many friends of longtime Homerville attorney Thomas C. “Tommy” Chambers III on his passing at the age of 85.

A member of the Georgia Bar since 1977, Mr. Chambers began his legal career in private practice with Chambers & Rice, with offices in Homerville and Waycross, and served as State Court solicitor for Clinch County. He served the legal profession on the Board of Governors of the State Bar of Georgia for 25 years and was a past president of the Alapaha Judicial Circuit Bar Association. He also served his country as an Air Force captain before entering law school.

Tommy Chambers’ distinguished career of service is an inspiration to all Georgia lawyers. We are appreciative of his many contributions to the legal profession and justice system of our state. He will be missed and fondly remembered.

Sincerely,

Ivy N. Cadle
President, State Bar of Georgia
