A New Chapter of Service for the Waycross Judicial Circuit

On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I am pleased to recognize Marilyn P. Bennett on her appointment to the Superior Court of the Waycross Judicial Circuit.
Judge Bennett brings extensive experience serving the circuit to the Superior Court bench. She currently serves as district attorney for the Waycross Judicial Circuit, becoming the first woman to hold that position. Before her election as district attorney, she served as a senior assistant district attorney in the Waycross office and was the lead trial attorney on major felony cases.
Earlier in her career, Judge Bennett prosecuted cases in the Brunswick Judicial Circuit and central Florida, handling felony, misdemeanor and juvenile offenses. Her work also includes a strong commitment to protecting children, an area of prosecution that has been an important part of her career.
In addition to her prosecutorial experience, Judge Bennett has practiced civil law in Georgia and Florida, focusing on family law, contracts, civil litigation and alternative dispute resolution. She has also served as a court-appointed guardian ad litem.
A graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi and the University of Mississippi School of Law, Judge Bennett brings broad legal experience and a longstanding commitment to public service to her new role.
We commend Judge Bennett on her appointment and wish her continued success as she serves the citizens of the Waycross Judicial Circuit and Georgia's justice system.
